AzHIMA Call for Board Nominations

The Arizona Health Information Management Association (AzHIMA) Nominating Committee wants you to suggest fellow members and/or yourself as possible candidates for the AzHIMA Board of Director positions for the next association year July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013

The deadline date is March 6, 2012.

Nominations are open for the following positions:

• President-Elect - would be a 3 year term:  year 1=Pres-Elect, year 2=Pres, year 3=Past-Pres.
• Delegate - would be 2 year term:  year 1=Delegate1^st, year 2=Delegate 2^nd
• Director - would be a 2 year term:  year 1=Director 1^st, year 2=Director 2^nd
• Secretary-Elect - would be a 2 year term: year 1=Secretary-elect, year 2=Secretary
• Treasurer - would be 2 yr term:  year 1=Treasurer-Elect, year 2=Treasurer

Elected BOD persons are expected to:

• Be a current  AHIMA member in good standing
• Have Arizona as primary AHIMA Component State Association (CSA)
• Attend BOD meetings:
  Meetings are generally held 9 times a year (no meeting in June, September or October (depending the date of the AHIMA National Meeting, and/or December) meetings locations/days are determined by the incoming President.  For July’s BOD meeting, it may be an all-day meeting due to transition of the incoming and outgoing board members.
• Monthly time expectations:
  There is about 10 hours a month time involved.  Two to three hours for the BOD meeting, travel time, BOD follow/up items, emails, and regularly visits to the AHIMA, State leaders COP, and AZ Geographic COP.
• Have employer support
• Have computer and email access
• Be able to travel local and out of state
• Association travel requires sharing a room with same sex board member
• Write an article(s) for the newsletter quarterly and  when the association sends you to a meeting
• Travel Assignments:
  Summer Team Talks - Chicago, IL - 3 days (2/3 are weekend days)- President & President-Elect
  National AHIMA House of Delegates - 2 days - Past Pres, Pres, Pres-Elect, Delegates 1^st & 2^nd year
  Winter Team Talks/Hill Day - 3 days (Sun – Tues) - Legislative Chair, Pres-elect; Others as assigned
  AzHIMA State Convention - 3 days - All BOD Positions
